Light Switches

Is your light switch not working? Do you hear a sizzling or popping sound when you toggle the switch? Does the switch have a distinctive burnt smell? Any one of these signs is a for-sure sign that there is a bad connection in the device or the wiring. If this is the problem that you’re experiencing, we recommend that you not use the switch and keep the switch in the off position, until repair. You run the risk of a potential fire. Contact us and we’ll have you fixed in a jiffy!

Outlets/Receptacles/GFCI

Do you have an outlet that is worn and the plug is loose? Has it stopped working or just falling apart? This is a common problem as the mechanism in the receptical has become worn. This might seem to be not a big problem but it can overheat the plug/outlet due to arcing from the loose connections.

Circuit Breakers

Do you have a circuit breaker that keeps tripping? Do you reset the breaker but the power doesn’t turn back on? Does the breaker seem warm or hot to the touch? These are all signs of of a short circuit, or a overloaded circuit. Several things can cause this to happen and we recommend servicing soon. We recommend NOT to use this circuit breaker until the problem is resolved. Give us a call, we’re here to help.

Smoke Detectors

Tired of hearing that beeping? Is the smoke detector operating?Did you know that all smoke detectors need to replaced after 10 years? Batteries are supposed to be replaced every six months.

Lighting

Do you have a light fixture that either partially works or doesn’t work at all? In most cases the problem will be the light switch itself (if whole light doesn’t turn on) but it also can be a loose wire in the fixture. Be sure not to exceed the wattage label on the fixture to prevent fire and wiring damage.

Dimmer Controls

Has your dimmer stopped dimming? Will the dimmer not turn on the light? Generally this will be a simple fix by just replacing the existing dimmer switch. It is very important that you rate the dimmer switch to the wattage that is needed. Keep in mind, not all dimmer switches are rated to run LED lights.

Electrical Shorts/Shocks

An overloaded circuit or bad splices create heat which in turn damages the insulation and connections. Over time this can cause devices to fail. This can lead to wires touching/shorting or worse yet, shocking you. This is a very dangerous situation and should be looked at immediately by a professional. Call us, we’ll nip those electrical repairs in the bud!

Fluorescent Lamps/Ballasts

Do you have a florescent fixture that doesn’t work anymore? Generally the problem is the lamps but the problem can be the ballast or the tombstones (ends). Whatever the problem is, GoPower Electric highly recommends refitting the fixture to LED. No more changing the lamps frequently. Plus you are saving electricity and reducing the heat.
